Victoria Cross Station – Consuelo Cavaniglia – Public Art
Depth of Field transforms a busy laneway and concourse into an immersive experience of light, reflection, and optical depth. Created by Sydney based artist Consuelo Cavaniglia, the work unfolds across four meticulously engineered showcases.
As commuters move past, vibrant flashes of colour give way to layered depth and subtle illusion up close. Glass, acrylic, mirror, and light are orchestrated with precision, creating moments of wonder within the rhythm of everyday travel.

Consuelo Cavaniglia
A Sydney-based artist whose practice explores perception, space, and the shifting effects of light and colour. Working across glass, acrylic, mirror, and installation, she creates environments that play with reflection and transparency – works that change as you move around them.
Cavaniglia holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Sydney and has exhibited widely across Australia, with major commissions including projects for the Chau Chak Wing Museum, Canberra Glassworks, and public art programs in Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth.
Her works are held in significant collections, including the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Artbank, and the Wesfarmers Collection.
Bridging art and infrastructure, the installation is robust enough for a public transport environment while retaining a museum - like presence. From hand blown glass to mirrors aligned to fractions of a millimetre, every detail reflects Cavaniglia's exploration of perception, space, and light.
We are proud to have delivered this project, collaborating closely with Cavaniglia and Lendlease to translate artistic vision into a lasting, experiential environment where craft and precision converge.
